Privacy

This site has no forms, asks for no sign-up and shows no ads.

I count visits with Umami, running on a server I manage: it records in aggregate which pages are viewed and where visitors come from, without cookies and without storing your IP address. It doesn’t let me know who you are. I do it to understand which content people are interested in (legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The only cookie is a technical one: lang, which remembers whether you chose Italian or English and lasts one year. It isn’t used to track you, so there’s no banner.

Like any web server, the one serving this site keeps a technical access log (address, page, time) for at most five weeks, only to protect it from abuse and to see whether something is broken (same legitimate interest).

The site goes through Cloudflare, which makes it faster and safer and therefore sees the address of whoever visits it. Cloudflare is based in the United States and takes part in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; the servers that publish the site are in a data centre in the European Union. I don’t sell or hand the data to anyone else.

Links to other sites (for example GitHub, LinkedIn or YouTube) lead to services with their own privacy rules.

You can ask me to access the data about you, to correct or delete it, and to restrict or object to its processing (Articles 15-21 GDPR). If you think I’m not handling it properly, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).

The data controller is me, Stefano Rossi. For any question about your data, write to me at the address on the main page.

The texts, photos and drawings on this site are mine, unless stated otherwise: if you want to reuse them, ask me first. The names of products and companies I mention (for example Meshtastic, Raspberry Pi, Home Assistant or Vaisala) belong to their owners, and I use them only to describe my projects. The technical information is what I have tried myself, given as it is and without warranty: if you use it, check it yourself too.
